RIBBONS Live @ Biblioteca de Alcântara – José Dias Coelho, Lisbon

At the CPPD Festival “Voices Rising: Memory Unsilenced” (24–25 April 2026) at the Biblioteca de Alcântara – José Dias Coelho in Lisbon, part of “After the Carnations – Cycles of Decolonisation and Democratic Futures”, artist Renee van Bavel will present her art-performance RIBBONS.

In RIBBONS, Renee van Bavel sews collected memorial ribbons from international sites of remembrance into an ongoing, collective artwork. The performance weaves together diverse stories, perspectives, and practices of memory into a shared transnational narrative. As an open and evolving practice, RIBBONS invites reflection on memory, the present, and the possibilities of solidarity and peace.
