RIBBONS is an artwork made from memorial ribbons that have been laid at commemorative events, memorial sites, and ceremonies around the world – in remembrance of war, dictatorship, oppression, and violence against humanity.
At Fluctoplasma – Hamburg’s Festival for Art, Discourse and Diversity, artist Renee van Bavel sews all these ribbons together during a live performance, creating a shared, unifying, and colourful work of art – RIBBONS – as a universal symbol for peace and human connection.
23–25 October at MARKK – Museum am Rothenbaum, Cultures and Arts of the World, a central venue of the Fluctoplasma Festival. With its focus on cultural encounter and critical reflection, MARKK provides a meaningful setting for RIBBONS and its exploration of memory, connection and our shared human history.
