People Have The Power@ Berlin Wall 2024

Through my work, I aim to transform remembrance into an active and engaging experience. Art has the power to evoke emotions, spark conversations, and deepen our understanding of shared memories. It is an essential tool to keep the past alive while offering hope and trust for the future.

This vision inspired the idea for a commemorative flashmob, commissioned by the Stiftung Berliner Mauer, to mark the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on the 9th of November 2024.

With the support of Chorverband Berlin, I reached out to 15 choirs from across Berlin to take part in this unique project.
More than 350 people signed up – each with their own personal connection to the Berlin Wall. Rehearsals began in the fall of 2024, and on November 9th, during the international commemoration at the Memorial of the Berlin Wall on the Bernauer Straße in Berlin, we sang Patti Smith’s powerful song, People Have the Power.

This moving conclusion to the ceremony, in the presence of the President of Germany and the Mayor of Berlin, delivered a resonant message of hope and unity.

A heartfelt thank you to all participating choirs:
